How do I change DNS in iOS?

Published · updated

Sometimes we'll get some browsing issues while using Safari for iOS, a few of them might be related to "unable to reach website" or "the server stopped responding".

It is very likely that the issue should be solved by using Open DNS or Google DNS as the main path for the iPhone/iPad device, in order to change DNS in an iOS device please try the following:

\- Open the device's settings

\- Tap on Wi-Fi. If it's switched off, turn it on.

\- Pick a Wi-Fi network and tap on the blue “i” icon

\- Tap on the text-field across the DNS label

\- Enter the DNS addresses \\8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4\**

\- Tap on Wi-Fi on top to go back. The changes are saved automatically.

*After doing this, you might want to restart Wi-Fi on iPhone to see if the DNS change has taken effect. Next up, fire up Safari on your iPhone/iPad and check to see if web pages load correctly.*
